Getting Unstuck

Getting unstuck is about alignment.

Too often, we try to grind our way through life, thinking effort alone will break us free from feeling trapped.

But that’s the fast track to burnout.

The real reason you’re stuck?

Your actions, your external pressures, and your authentic self are out of sync.

Common Sticking Points

  • Career: Feeling like you’re in a job that doesn’t align with your passions or that you’re not making meaningful progress.
  • Relationships: Struggling with connection, communication, or growth in your personal relationships—whether it’s with a partner, family, or friends.
  • Health: Feeling stagnant in your fitness journey or disconnected from your physical and mental well-being.
  • Finances: Being caught in a cycle of financial stress, unable to get ahead or build the stability you desire.
  • Personal Growth: Hitting a wall in your self-development or feeling disconnected from a sense of purpose or fulfillment.

Why Should You Care?

Because being stuck feels like shit.

And getting unstuck means more than just relief.

It means clarity.

It means waking up with a sense of purpose and direction.

It means living in a way that reflects who you really are—not who others expect you to be.

Imagine no more second-guessing, no more “just getting by.”

Instead, you’re making moves that feel right.

And trust me, when your actions line up with your values, progress feels effortless.

But, unfortunately, most people never get there.

Why We Stay Stuck

You’re out of alignment.

Your decisions are based on what you think you should do, not what actually matters to you.

“Should” equals obligation.

“Obligation” is the opposite of authentic living.

You’re trying to meet expectations instead of tuning into what feels true.

Here are a few reasons people can’t shake that stuck feeling:

  • Unclear on Values: When you don’t know what matters, you end up chasing goals that aren’t yours.
  • Clinging to Old Identities: If you’re making decisions based on who you used to be, you’re going to feel stuck. Growth means acting like the person you want to become, not who you’ve been.
  • Fear of Failure: The thought of failing holds a lot of people back. But the truth is, you can handle it—and failure is part of the process.
  • Confusing Pivoting with Quitting: People think if they change direction, they’re giving up. That’s wrong. Pivoting means adjusting to get back on track, not throwing in the towel.

How to Get Unstuck

You can get unstuck.

And it’s a lot simpler than you think.

Step 1: Clarify Your Core Values

The first thing you need to do is get clear on what truly matters to you.

This isn’t about what society tells you, or what your friends expect—it’s about your values.

According to Dr. John Demartini’s Value Determination Process, there are 13 questions designed to help individuals identify their core values.

These questions are:

  1. How do you fill your space?
  2. How do you spend your time?
  3. How do you spend your energy?
  4. How do you spend your money?
  5. Where are you most organized?
  6. Where are you most reliable?
  7. What dominates your thoughts?
  8. What do you visualize most?
  9. What do you most often talk to yourself about?
  10. What do you most often talk to others about?
  11. What inspires you?
  12. What goals stand out in your life and have stood the test of time?
  13. What do you love to learn or read about most?

After answering the questions, do the following:

  1. Identify recurring themes
  2. Rank your values
  3. Highlight the top 3-5 values

Step 2: Align With Your Values

Start prioritizing activities and goals that connect directly to your core values.

If health, creativity, or family are at the top of your list, your daily actions should reflect that.

Start looking for ways to incorporate your highest values in all areas of your life including career, health, relationships, and hobbies.

Structure your schedule so that the majority of your time is spent on tasks that align with what matters most to you.

This also means delegating or minimizing tasks that don’t serve your highest values.

The more you align your actions with your values, the more authentic and purposeful your life becomes—and that’s when real progress starts to happen.

Step 3: Embrace the Pivot

Finally, be willing to make adjustments.

Sometimes getting unstuck means you need to change direction—and that’s okay.

Pivoting isn’t quitting.

It’s realigning with what matters most.

Fear of change keeps people stuck longer than they need to be.

But resisting a needed pivot only deepens the feeling of being trapped.

When you embrace small shifts, you open up new opportunities.

If your current career path isn’t exciting you anymore, pivoting might mean exploring a new field or even just taking on a side project that lights you up.

The key is to make adjustments when something feels off rather than forcing yourself to stay the course.

Alignment Is the Way Out

Getting unstuck isn’t about brute force—it’s about alignment.

When you get clear on your values, align with your authentic self, and make necessary pivots, you’ll start moving again.

And that stuck feeling? It’ll fade.
